One last-minute post before Black Friday. It now appears Adorama and Canon’s own website (Canon USA) is matching or beating most of the major retailers’ specials. I’m a little surprised about Canon USA, as they usually charge slightly more than their retailers.
Examples:
Rebel XS with the kit 18-55 lens at Adorama and Canon USA is now listed at $479. (Same as K-Mart, Shopco and Wal-Mart). You can get the SX with the kit plus the 55-250 IS zoom for $629 from both Adorama and Canon. A bundle that isn’t available from most of the retailers, who are instead offering the non IS 70-300. The 55-250 IS lens is a much better lens for about $50 more than the national retailers’ bundles.
The T2i body only is now $699, while with the kit 18-55 lens it is $799. That’s the same price as Best Buy for the camera and kit lens. With the 55-250 IS zoom added in Adorama and Canon have it at $949. Best Buy is offering the same two-lens kit for $999. Best Buy does throw in a card and a bag with their bundle if that’s a consideration.
Finally, I noticed that both Canon and Adorama are offering the 60D body only at $999. Based on recent price history, that doesn’t seem to be a reduction.
Speaking of price history, based on the Canon Price Watch website the T2i has really dropped in price. Some might say that’s a sign that it’s coming up for replacement. I don’t agree. It’s got Canon’s top crop sensor and there just aren’t enough different features between the T2i and 60D for a new model.
